Dallas New Windows: Are One-Day Window Installs Too Good to Be True?

February 24th, 2026

You’re looking for a window replacement company in Dallas, and you’re wondering what services and promises matter most. You’ve noticed that some companies market a fast installation process, promising to install your new windows in one day. Why don’t all companies aim for speed? Is a one-day window install too good to be true?

At ZINTEX Remodeling Group, we tend to avoid blanket statements and one-size-fits-all promises. That said, it’s not entirely impossible to complete window installations in one day. Read on as we share what happens during a window installation and why some take longer than others.

What Happens During Window Installation?

It’s important to make the distinction between window repair and window installation. Many repairs (like adding new caulking or replacing the glass) can be completed in a few short hours because these services are much more targeted.

Window replacement, on the other hand, requires several complex steps, such as:

  • Preparing your home as needed
  • Removing old window frames and materials
  • Making structural repairs (like installing new insulation to the rough opening or replacing water damaged framing materials)
  • Setting and securing each window
  • Caulking, sealing, and cleaning up each window

How long each window takes to set, secure, and finish depends on a variety of factors, particularly the complexity of the install.

Can Windows Be Installed in One Day?

Now you know a little more about what happens during window replacement. Can all of that actually happen in one day?

The answer is technically yes, many window replacement projects can be completed in one day. At ZINTEX Remodeling Group, for example, our DFW window replacement team can usually complete 10-12 new window installations per day. If you’re replacing 12 windows or less, we can probably complete the job in a day.

Still, we don’t like to advertise a one-day window install to every single customer. Why?

No matter how experienced a window installer is, every single job is unique and should be treated as such. If we prioritize speed over craftsmanship on a home that needs more than 12 windows replaced, the quality of the work could suffer. Ultimately, our design consultants would much rather give you an estimated timeline that reflects the specifics of your project, rather than trying to make a one-day install happen every single time.

Why DFW Window Installation Often Takes More Than One Day

By now, you might understand where we’re coming from. No, a one-day window replacement isn’t exactly too good to be true, but it may not be the best option for every job. Here are some of the most common reasons why DFW window installation can take more than a single day from start to finish.

You’re Replacing More Than Ten Windows

It’s important to note that you’ll never be required to replace every single window in your house at once. Many homeowners replace their windows in batches or prioritize the ones that are having the most problems.

If you’re only replacing, say, eight windows that are all standard sizes and operational styles, you’re probably looking at a one-day install. If, on the other hand, you’re replacing upwards of ten windows, it could take a little longer to get the job done. It all comes down to the size of your installation team and the number of windows each installer is able to replace per hour.

You’ve Got Complex Window Installation Needs

Why did we mention standard windows with standard operational styles? Something like a 4’ x 5’ single-hung window is pretty common. Your installers have probably installed windows just like that hundreds of times before. The simple design combined with prior experience means these windows are probably going up pretty quickly.

Let’s compare that standard single-hung window to an oversized bay window. It may take more of your installation team to hold an oversized bay window in place while installing it, meaning fewer windows are being installed at a time. Plus, it may take longer to complete the sealing process on a specialty window.

Ultimately, a complex or custom window should take longer to install–that longer installation time means your team is doing what it takes to maintain the level of workmanship you’re going to see on simpler installs.

Your Installation Team Is on the Smaller Side

Window installers aren’t limited by a small workspace the way that, say, bathroom remodelers are. If you need to replace every single window in your entire house, your Dallas window replacement company very well might send out their whole crew to get it done.

As you can imagine, more installers mean more windows going in simultaneously, which means a faster install time overall.

The same is true of the inverse. Imagine your window replacement company sends out a team of three or four installers. Each installer may be installing windows at the same rate per hour as the installers on the bigger team, but with fewer of them, the total project will take longer.

Your Window Replacement Faces Unexpected Delays

Even in the best-case scenario, your window replacement timeline could take longer than one day for a very simple reason: unexpected delays do arise from time to time.

Assuming your window replacement company inspects all products for quality before the day of your installation, there’s one thing to keep an eye on, and that’s weather. Something like extreme heat or heavy rainfall can lead your team to postpone out of an abundance of caution.

What Is Window Installation Lead Time?

There’s another important component of your window installation timeline that is often overlooked, and that’s lead time. Lead time impacts just about any home improvement project, and refers to the amount of time needed between your consultation and your installation. Lead time encompasses:

  • Design and contract finalization
  • Product ordering and shipment
  • Material inspection and pre-installation quality control

Lead time will vary based on things like the manufacturer your window installation company partners with and the level of customization in your products. You can typically expect a three-to-five-week lead time for most Dallas residential window replacement projects.

While this doesn’t impact whether or not you can expect a one-day install, it’s still important to consider when planning your window replacement around your schedule!
