Standard vs Premium Acrylic Shower Wall Panels: Color, Finish, & Cost

As you’re learning more about the different shower remodeling possibilities, you’re noticing that some companies (like ZINTEX) break their pricing down into different tiers with different levels of customization. One influential factor is the acrylic shower wall panel color you choose, with standard options being more cost-efficient than premium options.

The question is, what does that actually mean? Which colors and designs fall into which bucket? And just how much of an impact does this one decision have on your overall estimate?

At ZINTEX Remodeling Group, we’ve got over 25 years of experience and a deep commitment to each of our local branches, from Lewisville to Kansas City to Pensacola. Our goal is to make sure every customer has the information they need to make a confident choice about their shower design and budget. Today, we’re taking a deep dive into standard vs. premium acrylic shower wall panels. Let’s get started.

Acrylic Shower Wall Colors: Standard Options

First, let’s talk about standard acrylic wall colors. You may have noticed on pages like our walk-in shower pricing page, we refer to these standard colors as “solid color.” That’s because in contrast to our premium wall colors, which are typically marbled or otherwise visually textured, the standard options are one single, solid color.

This includes options like Alabaster White, Platinum Gray, and Sandshell Beige. Because acrylic is a high-tech polymer, these classic neutral colors have a slight sheen that, when regularly wiped clean, keeps your shower looking like-new for years.

Acrylic Shower Wall Colors: Premium Options

Now, let’s talk about the premium acrylic shower walls you can choose from if you decide to upgrade. Premium acrylic shower wall panels typically have a design that mimics a natural material like marble or sandstone.

For example, one of the most popular Jacuzzi shower wall colors is Midnight Storm. This acrylic shower wall has a white base with grey and black marbling, adding a touch of elegance to any bathroom without forcing you to commit to one color scheme or style. Another popular option is Seaside, a warm-toned acrylic wall panel with eye-catching vertical veining.

Acrylic Shower Wall Patterns: Standard vs Premium Options

The color you choose for your new walk-in shower or tub surround is only the first half of the equation. You will also have the option to upgrade from the standard options by adding a simulated pattern to your walls.

The most popular simulated patterns ZINTEX homeowners choose are our etched tile designs, making up roughly 15% of our recent shower wall surround designs. Etched subway tile, in particular, seems to be gaining popularity in 2026.

How Do Wall Colors Impact Your Shower Remodel Cost?

In our pricing breakdown, we put solid color wall systems in the standard package ($11,000-$16,000) and premium wall systems in our intermediate and deluxe packages ($16,000-$19,000 and $19,000 to $22,000, respectively).

However, that doesn’t mean the price of a premium wall system is $5,000+ more than standard walls. Your wall color plays a relatively small role in your total estimate compared to things like scope, accessories, and shower enclosure styles.

Take, for example, this ZINTEX walk-in shower. Despite having premium walls in the Savannah Cove design, it came in at $15,107, which technically falls in the standard pricing tier.

This is thanks to other design decisions and project factors, such as the use of a shower rod instead of a glass shower door, the 36” x 36” footprint, and the standard showerhead.

When Should You Upgrade to Premium Acrylic Shower Walls?

A whopping 90% of ZINTEX customers choose premium acrylic shower walls (including that 15% of projects that incorporate simulated tile patterns we mentioned earlier). Homeowners typically prefer the premium options because:

  • They want to combine the luxury of natural stone or tile aesthetics with the ease of maintenance provided by acrylic
  • They’re remodeling a primary bathroom or frequently used bathroom and are willing to spend a little more to get the exact design they want
  • They know they’re investing in upgrades for a home they’ll remain in for years to come

Premium colors have wide appeal because they provide that wow factor you want when you plan to use a shower daily for a decade or more.
