Whether you’ve bought a home in Fort Worth, Arlington, or Grapevine, the question remains the same: how much would it cost to remodel my bathroom? The problem is that when you set out to find the answer, you’re going to see a lot of conflicting answers, including some numbers that are too good to be true.

At ZINTEX Remodeling Group, we have over two decades of experience to support our pricing transparency. We won’t lure you in with a low number just to spring a much higher estimate on you later down the road.

In Tarrant County, a bathroom remodel is generally going to cost anywhere from $15,000 to $75,000. Why is that price range so big, and how can you determine where your bathroom remodel will land? Let’s take a closer look.

Is $10,000 Enough for a Full Bathroom Remodel in Tarrant County?

Results can vary quite a bit when you search for average Tarrant County bathroom remodeling costs. You may see numbers as low as $5,000-$10,000. Is a budget of $10,000 really enough to remodel everything from the floor to the lighting?

It all depends on how you plan on approaching your bathroom remodel installation. If you have access to free labor (aka DIY labor) and low-cost materials, you may be able to complete your bathroom remodel on a budget of $10,000.

Before you embark on any major DIY bathroom remodel projects, you may want to take a look at our guide to DIY do’s and don’ts. Even little mistakes can have expensive repercussions when we’re talking about things like wiring and plumbing.

Questions to ask before you DIY a bathroom remodel (1)

You may also be able to find an unlicensed, uninsured, or low-experience contractor who is willing to take on the labor at a rate that falls below industry standards. However, you'd be taking on a lot of liability. For example, you may have to pay out of pocket for property damage caused by an uninsured contractor.

Why Do Professional Remodels Cost Upwards of $15,000?

There’s another reason why you might be seeing those too-good-to-be-true numbers on a lot of online resources. Thanks to inflation, average price ranges for things like home improvement projects can become outdated pretty quickly.

In fact, inflation tends to hit industries like home improvement harder than others, because you’re accounting for the cost of both materials and labor. According to the Verisk Repair and Remodel Index, remodel costs increased by 3.43% in Q2 of 2025, compared to the 2.7% increase in inflation.

That means that the same remodel that cost $10,000 at the beginning of the year could have cost $10,343 by April. On a bigger scale, we’re looking at even more drastic increases. A price range posted four or five years ago could be off by a few thousand dollars.

What Factors Will Impact My Full Bathroom Remodel Cost?

When you’re trying to make sense of such big numbers (and such a huge price range), it’s useful to break those numbers down into categories. To start, take a look at this cost range and budget percentage of things like labor, materials, and plumbing work.

Cost Category

Cost Range

Percentage of Budget

Labor

$6,000 - $18,000

25% - 40%

Materials

$4,000 - $15,000

40% - 60%

Demolition

$600 - $3,500

5% - 10%

Plumbing & Electrical

$1,200 - $6,000

10% - 20%

Fixtures & Features

$2,500 - $12,000

15% - 30%

Permits

$150 - $1,200

1% - 3%

Now, why do each of these categories have their own price range? Why, for example, do bathroom remodeling materials cost anywhere from $4,000 to $15,000? This is where your estimate is going to reflect your specific bathroom remodeling choices, such as:

  • The scope of your remodel. For example, focusing on a specific area (like your tub or shower) will cost less than a full studs-to-done remodel. Alternatively, a remodel that takes advantage of your current plumbing layout will cost less than a remodel that involves adding square footage or moving your shower from one wall to another.
  • The materials you use. For example, acrylic shower walls fall into the pricing mid-range because they’re high in quality and durable, but not as costly as something like natural stone slabs.

The level of customization in your design. Standard options like a 30” x 60” shower base or basic shower wall colors will cost less than custom sizes or premium designs. Similarly, you can expect to pay more for custom cabinetry or add-on accessories than for pre-fab materials.

Tips for Building a Bathroom on a Budget of $40,000 or Less

One way to approach a bathroom remodel on a budget is to focus on the upgrades that would make the biggest difference. For example, some homeowners will opt to upgrade their tub or shower before (or instead of) tackling a full bathroom remodel. Others will incorporate a few additional upgrades, like new flooring.

Additional tips to stay in the $40,000 or less zone include:

  • Using your existing layout: work within the existing square footage of your bathroom and take advantage of current electrical and plumbing configurations
  • Balancing your budget with durability by using mid-range materials: design your bathroom with materials like acrylic, a more affordable alternative to natural stone or high-end tile that can last 15-20 years
  • Prioritizing must-have design features: stick to standard or pre-fab options (such as single-color shower wall panels) whenever possible to make more space in your budget for the customizations you really need, like grab bars or non-slip flooring
