What to Expect During Your ZINTEX Design Consultation

You know you want to hire a bathroom remodeling company, but this is brand-new territory for you. Everyone seems to start the process with a design consultation, but you’re not sure why. Is there any way to skip it? Why do remodeling companies seem to think this free appointment is so crucial?

At ZINTEX Remodeling Group, we’ve been in the bathroom remodeling industry for over two decades, and we’re here to assure you that yes, that first design consultation is a must. We also understand that it can feel a little overwhelming to let a stranger into your home when you don’t know what to expect from them. Read on as we walk you through the entire design consultation process, including what you can do to prepare.

Why Design Consultations are Important

We start all our remodeling projects with design consultations for a few key reasons. For example, a consultation allows you to:

  • Learn more about our services, products, pricing, and timeline to decide if we’re the right fit for your remodel
  • Demonstrate the current state of your bathroom so our team can assess the scope of work needed to modernize the space
  • Share your needs, goals, and desires for your new bathroom
  • Discuss your budget

You can certainly learn a lot from our website, particularly from the videos and blog posts in our Learning Center. However, only a design consultation can provide the personalized analysis of your project that you need to make any final decisions.

Who Should Attend Your Design Consultation?

Ultimately, our goal is to do what works best for the members of your household, and we understand how hard it can be to get everyone in the same room at the same time. That said, we do recommend that the following people attend your design consultation:

  • All homeowners: Whether you own your home with your spouse, a friend, or another family member, all homeowners will want to participate in the conversation.
  • Any household members who will use your remodeled bathroom: If you’re remodeling a bathroom other than your primary, you may want to include anyone who will use that bathroom, particularly if the remodel is meant to accommodate their disabilities or mobility limitations.
  • Anyone helping with financing: If someone outside of the home is helping you to finance your bathroom remodel, you may want to include them to provide clarity on budgetary goals.

What if you live alone and you’re paying off your remodel alone? You can always invite a trusted friend or family member to provide a second opinion if a one-on-one consultation feels overwhelming.

What Happens During Your Design Consultation?

Now, for the part you’re really curious about: what will we do during your ZINTEX design consultation? In a span of one to two hours, we’ll thoroughly discuss the following topics:

  • Your biggest priorities and goals for your bathroom remodel: Whether you’re looking for a primarily aesthetic upgrade, making changes for your growing family, or transforming your home to safely age in place, our conversation will revolve around your biggest priorities and goals.
  • Your budgetary needs: What is the absolute most you can afford to spend on your remodel? What’s your target budget? How can financing play a role? Your financial concerns are the second most important factor as we help you design your ideal bathroom remodel.
  • The state of your existing bathroom: By getting a closer look at your bathroom, our design consultant can start to assess the scope of work needed to not only bring your vision to life, but to address any issues like water damage or outdated plumbing. This information is necessary to give you the most accurate estimate possible.
  • Our products and accessories: What are the products and accessories we offer in your market that can balance your tactile goals with your budget? If you’ve used our online pricing tool, you probably have a sense of what you’re looking for. This is the perfect opportunity to talk through those choices and finalize your design.
  • The ZINTEX Installation timeline: Based on everything we’ve discussed above, how long will it take from your design consultation to day one of your install? Once your installation team has started your remodel, how long will they need to finish your new bathroom? We’ll share a detailed timeline estimate so you can build your remodel into your schedule.
  • Post-installation support: Finally, we’ll share maintenance tips, discuss our ZINTEX warranties, and review long-term customer support.

How Can You Prepare for Your ZINTEX Design Consultation?

Realistically, you don’t have to do anything before your design consultation with ZINTEX Remodeling Group. All of our design consultants are equipped to help you go from totally unsure about what you’re looking for to completely prepared, informed, and ready to roll. That said, it can streamline the process a bit if you do the following in advance:

  • Assess your budget range: You can use our website, including our pricing pages and our pricing tool, to help narrow down a realistic budget for your remodel.
  • Clear a path: We by no means expect a spotless home, but it’s helpful for our design consultant if your bathroom is easily accessible!
  • Get inspired: Don’t hesitate to show us any design inspiration you have, whether it’s a photo you saw on our website or your personal Pinterest board. You can also share your inspiration by having answers to questions like:
    • What problems can a remodel solve for your household members?
    • What design styles are you most drawn to?
    • What is most important to you when hiring a bathroom remodeling company? (E.g., customer service, affordability, product options, etc.)

This is your time to ask any questions or get any clarity you need before making the choice to sign a contract. No question is too granular for our design consultants!

What Happens Next?

Many of our ZINTEX customers do sign a contract the same day they have their design consultation, which speaks to the thoroughness of our design consultants. That said, you are not at all obligated to make a choice that same day. You are free to review the proposal created by your design consultant during your consultation and get back to us at a later date.

Once you’re ready to sign a contract, we’ll finalize all details and make sure you’re 100% happy with the design. From there, we’ll place an order for your materials. If you’ve designed a walk in shower using our Quick Ship Program, those materials will be ready for installation in three weeks or less. Otherwise, it may take about four to six weeks for your materials to arrive.

After your installation team has inspected your materials and made sure they meet our rigorous quality standards, we can begin your installation. This typically takes one or two days, and your installation team will clean up and walk you through all functional features before leaving you to enjoy your new bathroom!
